significance

do these balls of paper pulp hold any significance or are they reliant on us to justify their existence?

  1. I really like these animations. They remind me of early experiments in cinema special effects. Directors in those days really were artists, creating magic from nothing. The forms the balls make make me think of Zodiac symbols, as they seem to form patterns with some kind of symbolic significance, or at least look like they might. But it's interesting how I see this significance in the forms, when they might be purely aesthetic choices. I guess that's very much related to the idea of seeing or looking for "something" in nothing, or perhaps even (to an extreme) certain people's belief in Intelligent Design; seeing beauty in natural formations, and then correlating some kind of "higher intervention" in it.
Also, how they form reminds me of the Magic Pencil, which I used to watch as a little kid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8n5VAfTtt8
